The Threshing Barn at Belle Isle State Park

Out on my regular plein air day despite the rain threatening, I popped down to our local state park and decided to capture this barn. I was partly inspired to paint it because when my kids were little (still too young to be in school), their father and I helped renovate this barn when the state took over this farm to turn it into a park. Somewhere under its last few coats of paint are brush strokes both of my boys applied along with their late father. On the day I captured this in a painting, I brought back happy memories.
