Summer Afternoon at the Pollywog Pond

All my life, and from our summer visits to Prince Edward Island, I have always known this place as “the pollywog pond.” I have no idea if there are actually pollywogs in there… The place holds many memories, ranging from grief to bliss and joy. And I find this painting encompasses the feel of a blissful August afternoon with down by the pond.
This painting started en plein air down by a beach where the pond drains into the Atlantic Ocean/St. Lawrence River mouth, was continued in a screened-in porch (still in PEI) from reference photos, then finalized in the studio back home.
