In Santa Barbara, at the end of a long road through a grassy plain, is to be found this beach, a remote stretch of sand with the campus of UCSB visible in the airy distance. Gray boulders press against the base of the bluffs, and trees in various states of life grow right out of the cliffs. Silence, serenity, and sensibility greet the morning visitor, as incoming wavelets caress the shore.
