The Blue loon
This was painted with Golden Open Acrylic on hard panel. There was an Art fair in downtown Stillwater Minnesota (where I reside) and I was asked to come down and be a part of the Rivertown Art fair. They asked for me to do a live Plien air on site. As I walked around and searched for a good subject to paint. I had myself thinking that I could paint the great wave of white tents that all the artist booth were, or continue to paint the great architecture of our famous historic city is known for. I have already done all those and then I saw this Concession stand that stood out in beautiful bold primary colors. It was something original and stood out in the sea of white tents and large school of people. It was called the Blue loon. Truly the best cheese curds and corn dogs in all of Minnesota! I set up, and went at it. I only had a couple of hours as I had to be at another location for another event. When I was done, I was approached by one of the staffs who purchased it with a pool of others as a gift for the owners who retired. It was one of the true reasons why painting in the real world that brings a community together and always has a story to share.
