Muddy Creek Falls
It took me a year before I was brave enough to go back and finish this one. The problem was I really liked the beginning so I was afraid of messing it up. To add to my hesitancy, Muddy Creek Falls is an iconic symbol of the area surrounding my cabin. I looked at real estate near Deep Creek Lake for twenty years. It reminded me of Michigan, where I grew up. In Michigan, you either had a cabin in the woods on a lake 'Up North' or a boat to take you to the woods Up North. Up North was a place to slow down, rest and enjoy nature. It was restorative.
Fast forward to a time just after I was divorced. With a racing heart I bought the cabin I knew was the right one from the moment I saw it from the road. Can I do this?! Can I afford it? What am I thinking!? I'm so glad I took the risk. This place is so special to me. It was meant to be. AND, after finding my ancestors, it turns out both sides of my family spent time in this area. So, this painting represents all of that to me. It's part of my Happy Places Series, in and around the Appalachian Mountains of Western Maryland.
