Sunrise, June Lake was inspired by a camping/painting trip to the eastern Sierra Nevada in California. I've been hiking and painting both the east and west sides of the Sierra my whole life. This was started as plein air of sunrise lighting up the whole mountain behind June Lake but is mostly a studio painting. It is a pastel on paper.
