Silkie Chicks #2

Painting of several 'Silkie' chicks in a cheese box. One very cold winter we had baby chicks in late December and it was too cold outside for the mama and babies... so we brought them inside the studio. They not only entertained (distracted) us, but also provided some inspiration for painting. I put them to work and coaxed them into positions as best I could. They were actually very good models, once they gave into me constantly putting them into place. The cool winter light coming in the window, catching the straw and their silly feathers were very much a part of my motivation.
