This Sicilian fisherman came up in his boat while we were painting en plein air by the sea. I approached him and asked if I could take photos and preferred he did not pose for the photos. I painted the shadows on his face first as I wanted to catch those reflective colors in the dramatic darks. I painted him as a demonstration and it is one that I'm really happy with, a great memory from Sicily.
