Time Warp, Wallowa Valley
This old granary has been standing taller than any building ever constructed in the Wallowa Valley for many decades, perhaps since 1908. No one in town seemed to know exact dates, but one thing is for sure. It's a very strange, cool grouping of old structures that are no longer in use, set against the gorgeous Wallowa Mountains in the distance. When we drove into the valley and spotted this icon, I just had to set-up my easel and paint it.
A railroad track runs adjacent and one can almost hear old locomotives screeching to a halt to deliver or transport grain for storage. Feels sort of haunted and hope I got that feeling across in this painting. This was awarded "Best Agrarian Landscape" in the plein air portion during the 41st Annual Wallowa Valley Festival of the Arts.
